Senator Salazar Statement on President Bush’s THIRD Veto of Children’s Health Insurance Program

WASHINGTON, DC – United States Senator Ken Salazar issued the following statement today after President Bush vetoed the new Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007. This is the THIRD time that President Bush has vetoed a reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

“With his latest veto of the children’s health insurance program, President Bush is theoretically giving 10 million children who need health insurance a lump of coal for the holidays. I am astonished with his level of obstinacy and his choice to play politics with the health and well being of America’s most vulnerable children. It is paramount that the President meets us halfway. Millions of children whose health care is on the line cannot afford to wait.”
