Sen. Salazar Announces Colorado PILT Payments for FY08
WASHINGTON,
DC – United States Senator Ken Salazar today announced the
Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) payments to Colorado counties for Fiscal
Year 2008 (FY08). Colorado counties are receiving $17,600,691. This
is $247,722 more than Colorado counties received in FY07, an increase
of approximately 1.4 percent.
“Each
of the last four years I have fought against proposed cuts to the PILT
program, which is so important to so many Colorado counties that have
federal land,” said Senator Salazar. “Federal lands make up more than
one-third of Colorado. For these counties, PILT helps pay for essential
services like schools, roads, and first responders. This program is
critical to our state and I remain committed to working with my Republican
and Democratic colleagues to fully fund PILT.”
